Deborah O’Neil OBE FRSE

CEO, NovaBiotics

Dr Deborah O’Neil is a bio entrepreneur and the Chief Executive Officer of NovaBiotics. Since founding the company in 2004, Deborah has grown NovaBiotics into a leading global biotechnology company, developing immune-based therapies for life-threatening and life-limiting inflammatory, infectious and respiratory diseases.

Deborah is a board member of the UK’s BioIndustry Association, a founding director of the Biotechs of Europe innovating in Anti-Microbial Resistance (BEAM) Alliance. She also sits on the board of the Scottish Life Sciences Association and was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh in 2018.

In 2020, Deborah was made OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list for her contributions to biotechnology, industry and charity.

In her role as a judge on the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year™ 2021 UK judging panel, Deborah is looking for innovators and change-makers, and entrepreneurs with a genuine passion for what they do.

Entrepreneurs will see opportunities, not barriers, as we recover from the pandemic and transition to a ‘new norm’ in the future.
